Our on site Makonde carver uses his hands, feet and simple tools to carve into the hard ebony of the Mpingo tree.   A "street" in Huduma, the sprawled out village to which the MVCC land belongs.
 
Kids play in the banana plantations in the valley directly below the lodge,   but some have to help their parents!
 
The local bananas and rice on sale in the streets of Mto Wa Mbu (Motowoombu) our local town   and more fruit and veg in the local market.
 
Some of the women of Mafuta Boma (village) await to greet us and   their warrior men march in ceremony into the Boma.
 
They live very simple lives   in the wide open savana in the valley to our east.
 
Dance and song is part of every day life   and beadwork belongs to their many talents.
