Depending on where you come from various airlines and charter companies offer good flights to Kilimanjaroo International Airport (JRO).

If you choose to fly to Nairobi consider that you may need a Visa into Kenya and the public busses to Arusha (where we pickup our all-inclusive customers ) are typically African and the journey to Arusha takes a good 5 to 6 hours. If you want to arrive this way then get a bus or taxi from Nairobi Kenyatta Airport to the famous New Stanley Hotel in the city. On the forecourt of the hotel you can have a refreshing fruit juice, coffee or even eat. The people there will tell you where you can get the bus from, it is just around the corner from the hotel.

Some experiences with airline routes to Nairobi and Kilimanjaro...

  • Gulf-Air: Great flights; excellent service and very good food. Usually need to change in Bahrain or nearby and this change can be a little rushed. But if like me you are happy to have a break between flights this is a good choice!
  • Emirates: Great flights; excellent service and very good food. Usually need to change in Dubai (a fantastic shopper's airport). Sometimes a very long overnight wait between flights but good food courts and an interesting cosmopolitan community.
  • KLM: Great flights; excellent service and very good food. Usually need to change in Schipol, Amsterdam: also a great airport for shoppers and hungry travellers! But why do I have to fly from Munich to Amsterdam to get to Africa?.
